One of HHS’s known rappers, Kevin Bowen (11) is widely known and respected throughout the school for his enthusiasm and dedication to his music. After three years of producing rap music under the name P kevo, he’s now gathering views up to 630K on his Kyle Beats’ feature, 12k on “We Got It,” and 1.7k views on “Lowkey Gangsta.” As he spends his time at HHS, he feels that he is destined to be who he is now.

I knew I wanted to do music whenever I kept listening to music that connected with me and I could really relate to,” Bowen said.

Creating and making yourself known is important for artists all around the world but it’s important to make it meaningful. Bowen says originally his name was SLC Kevo, but he eventually changed it to what it is now. Now, his name is more fitting for his personality and his social media presence.

“P Kevo. P stands for prosperous,” Bowen said. “To prosper is to do well financially, environmentally, physically, mentally, etc. and that is my goal in the end. To successfully be able to overcome any of those issues, inevitably thriving.”

Everyone can feel inspiration from anything and everywhere but he gets him from the music itself. While Listening to the music he finds lyrics inside and relates to certain people’s situations and predicaments. In his music, he speaks about being an independent person, letting people know he’s not comparable to them, and his financial upbringing.

“I’m inspired to make music that people can connect to and realistically relate to,” Bowen said.

Curiosity doesn’t always kill the cat. Bowen, one day, commented under Kyle Beats Youtube video asking for a feature and Kyle responded resulting in a YouTube video that gave Bowen more recognition than he already had.

“The feature with Kyle Beats came along randomly after I commented on one of his videos. He messaged me the next morning when I woke up and after that was that.”
