P.E & Health teacher Mrs. Jenny Kloeppel was named HHS Teacher of The Year for 2025. At HHS the staff annually nominates teachers for the award and Mrs. Kloeppel won the award this year. Kloeppel has been teaching at HHS for 20 years.
“Being named Teacher of the Year is a great honor and very special,” Kloeppel said. “To me it recognizes excellence in teaching, and having an impact on students and the school community. It means that I have shown dedication to my students’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being while providing a positive and engaging learning environment.”
Teaching physical Education & health is her subject area but what inspired Mrs. Kloeppel to become a teacher and her motivation to keep teaching after 20 years?
“My coaches and teachers in high school,” Kloeppel said. “My favorite teacher was my PE/Health teacher and volleyball coach. For me, I loved sports and PE in high school, and that teacher/coach was a huge support system for me.”
For Mrs. Kloeppel her high school teachers had a significant impact on her teaching career and her love for teaching students at HHS.
“I wanted to be the person my teachers were for me, I wanted to have a career in what I loved, and I also believed in the importance of physical activity and taking care of your health in all aspects.”
Principal, Mr. David Williams shares some of the plenty of things he has to say about Mrs. Kloeppel being named teacher of the year.
“I think Ms. Kloeppel is an outstanding choice for teacher of the year,” Williams said. “She is a student-centered educator who consistently goes above and beyond for her students.”
Williams also shares how Mrs. Kloeppel has done a good job on adjusting to the grading system and developing a strength and conditioning class
“She has done an amazing job developing a strength and conditioning class which she had to do from scratch. Not only did she have to adjust to a new format with the renovation of our weightroom, like all elective teachers she had to develop new standards and proficiency scales for the course. She has done a great job with it and we continue to have more and more students interested in taking that class,” Williams said.
A student this semester, Alexandra Malloy (11) shares her appreciation for Kloeppel and how she’s a nice teacher when it comes to helping students.
“Mrs. Kloeppel is a very nice teacher! I would like to give her an air hug because she’s helpful,” Malloy said.
Being named teacher of the year for Mrs. Kloeppel means a great honor to her. Looking back at her career Kloeppel shares what she is proud of in her teacher career, the support at HHS she has received and her relationships with students.
“I am most proud of the relationships and support I have given to my students. I am proud that I can be a safe person my students can go to without the fear of being judged,” Kloeppel said.
