On October 23 the Volleyball season came to an end with a loss in districts to Maplewood.
The final record ended with 9 wins and 14 losses, the leading players were Eldijana Klokic, with 157 points, 268 serves, and 199 digs. Gwen Skaggs led with 8 blocks, and Payton Clark had 67 kills.
Many impactful learning experiences were practiced this season.
“This season we didn’t give up like we did last year,” Eldijana Klokic (12) said. “We were more like, it’s okay if we’re doing bad right now let’s just get over it and keep going.”
The season saw its fair share of thrilling matches, with several games coming down to the wire. One of the most talked about games would have to be the Bayless home game.
“My favorite game this season was when we played Bayless at home the Thursday before Homecoming,” head coach Miss Olivia Jordan said. “I think that was the best my girls had played all season, and the energy was awesome with all the other sports teams.”
The teams showcased their commitment and hard work from the first practice to the final match. For many, the season was an opportunity to build skills and develop team chemistry and friendships.
“Becoming friends with Aamira Wade. And becoming closer with Justice and Alisa,” Milana Bishop (12) said.
Although there were many positives, like the growth, teamwork, and friendship, the season also comes with some challenges, like not getting enough recognition for the hard work put in.
“The most challenging experience would have to be setter honestly,” Bishop said. “The setter really doesn’t get the thanks they truly deserve because you can’t have a good hit without a good set. But also wanting that pride from the coach you just never get when you really need it.”
