Miss Taylor Green is the new Administrative Assistant in the Guidance Office at Hancock High School.
Green moved from elementary education to high school counseling because she wanted new challenges and to build relationships with students. With a degree in elementary school education, she spent four years in the elementary setting before moving on.
“I was looking for a new challenge and a way to stay in a school but not be in the typical classroom setting,” Green said.
Green reflected on her strengths and areas for improvement. She also stressed that advocacy plays a big role in her job.
“My strengths are building relationships and advocating for students. My weakness is saying yes to too many things,” Green admitted.
Green also explained the importance of students taking accountability for their education at Hancock which she hasn’t seen in her other schools and the Hancock atmosphere making her job enjoyable.
“The students at Hancock take far more accountability for their education, and what really makes my job enjoyable is the incredible atmosphere here at Hancock Place,” Green mentioned.
Green’s job in the Guidance Office is to schedule appointments between students and counselors and keep correct student records. Outside of school, she also enjoys other things like traveling, going to concerts, and crafting.
“My last concert was Post Malone in Nashville, Tennessee this past weekend and my next concert is Usher [on Friday],” Green said. “I’m buying tickets to go to the Hangout Music Fest in Gulf Shores Alabama. The farthest place I’ve traveled to for a concert is Plam Springs, California to see Harry Styles last February.”
