In a rapidly advancing technological world, Mr. Trey Dittrich is igniting passion for his students as the new Robotics and Innovative Technology teacher this year at HHS.
This is Dittrich’s first year teaching after being a substitute teacher for a year. He also was a technology intern as a senior student at HHS.
“I took innovative tech at HHS for four years and I came back as a tech intern during school and the summers because I’ve always just liked the process of looking at something,” Dittrich said.
After growing up with his father as an educator he decided to become one as well, hoping he can make a difference.
“I’ve always liked talking about content that interests me,” Dittrich shared. “A lot of my family is in education, and I remember seeing all these kids running up to my Dad to shake his hand and just say hi. I saw that and just thought that’s the best route to go. There is such a positive impact being a teacher.”
Dittrich thinks HHS has a good support system.
“There are a lot of great and supportive people here at HHS,” Dittrich shared. “This is the community I grew up in and I know exactly who to go to for whatever advice I need, and it just makes it so much easier than not knowing what to do.”
On days off Dittrich expressed he likes doing things that keep him active and keeps his brain thinking.
“I like to play sports, I really enjoy tennis, baseball, and basketball,” Dittrich said. “I’m also a really good gamer, ever since elementary school I would do my homework then run over and start playing video games. I think that’s what caused my love for tech.”
Dittrich takes care of a little cat named Specs and hopes for another one soon.
“I currently have a little tortoiseshell cat who is one and a half years old,” Dittrich said. “I want to get her a little friend to play with soon, but that really depends on how life goes.”
Dittrich said he thinks he’s a nerd for all the stuff he likes.
“I really want to go to Europe, because I’m kind of a history nerd, and europes has a lot of old architecture and a really rich history,” Dittrich shared. “When my girlfriend and I get married, I want to go to Rome with her, it’s a really romantic city and it has a lot of historical significance.”
Dittrich is excited to get through this school year and can’t wait to see the changes he can make at HHS
“We have made a ton of progress since the start of school,” Dittrich shared. “We plan to continue that change by encouraging self-reflection and putting the learning process into action.”
