Mrs. Tara Hill has quite a bit of teaching experience before coming to HHS. She had opportunities to teach in many different places.
“Lots of places,” she said. She has taught in far away places like an American school in Taiwan, as well as in Connecticut, and in two schools in Missouri.
Even though Mrs. Hill taught different places, she has never taught a high school.
“This is a challenging year, filled with so much learning,” she said. It’s her first year being a high school teacher.
She took the challenge of teaching high schoolers to try something new.
“We have to take risks, reflect on what works and what doesn’t, adjust, and improve,” she said. “Learning is a full time job. But, I like learning new stuff, so it’s all good.”
Hill says that everything has been going good so far with her students.
“I have so many wonderful handworking, kind, curious students that make hardworking here something I look forward to everyday,” she said. “My students, colleagues and principals are such great sources of wisdom.”
After a long day working at school, Hill goes home and enjoys time with family.
“I hang out with my family and take care of them,” she said. We are spending a lot of time catching up with them these days. She moved back to st. Louis to be near her larger family.
While at home with family she also has a passion for cooking.
“I love cooking and baking cookies,” she said, “especially peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies.”
