Touch screens, 360° hinges, engraved patterns. These are some of the features of the new Chromebooks held by the freshmen.

The Chromebooks are a fairly new installment to the school, with only a few years since being able to take them home. The Chromebooks since those years have started to change from minor things to major things.

The newest features are advanced and fun to use. Dirksen explained that some of the new advancements are touchscreens, a convertible feature, and the ability to install some Android apps. These features are amazing to have and can help enhance the education system.

With all the new changes, the students are curious about the price. Hancock’s Director of Technology, Michelle Dirksen, gave an exact price of $300 which is, surprisingly, the same price as the old Chromebooks which raises the question as to why every student didn’t get a new Chromebook.

“I feel like we shouldn’t be the only ones to have them. I think everyone should have them because all the older kids are like you don’t deserve them,” said Freshman Angeles Hernandez.

Even though everyone would like one of these new Chromebooks, whether it be for learning better or to use the new features, it just is not possible to do it.

“Unfortunately, we cannot refresh everyone’s Chromebooks each year.  It is our policy to refresh Chromebooks in 5th grade and 9th grade.  That way each student has the same Chromebook for four years,” explained Dirksen.
